Patti Kiersted
Patti Kiersted is a life-long equestrian who began riding in hunter/jumper competition on Long Island, New York, at the age of ten. Patti has trained with many highly regarded experts in the field, including, Linda Allen, Audrey Goldsmith, Don Sachey, John Lyons and, among others, Harry De Leyer “grand father of show jumping” whose achievements are recounted in Elizabeth Lett’s new book ” The Eighty-Dollar Champion”.
She has been training riders and horses, in all disciplines, in the Santa Cruz area for over forty years. Overall, she has more than four decades of experience in all aspects of horsemanship, including riding, training, showing and stable management.
Patti’s approach to training emphasizes safety and enjoyment for both horse and rider. She welcomes students of all ages, abilities and disciplines. While she specializes in Hunter/Jumper and Equitation, she has substantial experience training students and horses in Western Pleasure, trail riding, basic Dressage, and endurance.
Her students have achieved a high degree of success at all levels of competition, from schooling to A-circuit shows. Patti herself has successfully ridden her horse Banner in the Show Jumper division for sixteen years.
